Safari Petting Zoo
We believe that people with severe disabilities have a great deal of potential for feeling, communication and development that can be realized through innovative, therapeutic means. The Safari Petting Zoo Project utilizes animals as a means of therapy and rehabilitative occupation for people with cognitive and physical disabilities.
The Safari Petting Zoo offers residents ongoing opportunity to care for animals and form bonds with them, thereby nurturing these feelings and encouraging their expression in their relationships with the people around them.
The program aims to:
-
Provide stimulation
-
Heighten sensory awareness
-
Build self-confidence
-
Encourage sensitivity to others
-
Promote the natural emotions of nurturing, bonding and generosity
-
Encourage social interaction
-
Offer a vocational occupation that incorporates therapy goals
-
Increase quality of life by enabling the release of energy in a positive way
The program requires philanthropic support to offer intensive therapy that will really make a difference for the children who need it most. Dedication opporutnities available. Please contact us to join this exciting project!
