Aleh seeks to establish its own hydrotherapy pools, so that its residents may enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy on an ongoing basis.  The pool will serve a wide range of special-needs people: mobile patients with cognitive disabilities, dependent patients with physical and cognitive disabilities, hi-dependent patients with complex physical and cognitive disabilities, and people from the community at large with various developmental delays and special needs.  Ages of the patients will also include a wide spectrum: from infants and children to teenagers and adults.

Hydrotherapy offers therapeutic relief to our residents in numerous ways:

  1. Improve movement ranges and motor ability
  2. Use the medium of water to restore movement and strengthen muscles weakened by various orthopedic complications
  3. Improve lung ventilation and breathing abilities for dependent and hi-dependent patients
  4. Improve breathing coordination and cardiac-pulmonary endurance
  5. Promote emotional wellness and quality of life by enabling the release of energy in a positive way, providing social interaction, pleasure and relaxation

Project Details:

The pool will provide about 50 treatments a day, to Aleh residents and special needs children from the community.  Treatments will be given both individually and in small groups.  Groups will be formed based on criteria such as disabilities, treatment goals, etc.

A system of gradual increasing of water depth via the use of steps will be employed, taking into consideration both infants and young children as well as adults of average height.  The different water levels will be separated by steel guard railings.

The entrance and exit to and from the pool will be wheelchair-accessible.  A ceiling hoist will also be employed.

The pool complex will be designed in a way meant to ensure easy and convenient access for people with limited mobility, without employing obvious external elements for the handicapped.  It will be aesthetically pleasing while at the same time ensure the safety of its users.
